June 24, 2019 — A significant milestone for DestinationNEXT was reached on June 21 when the Hawaiian Island of Oahu became the 200th destination to be assessed by MMGY NextFactor.

DestinationNEXT has transformed the tourism industry since 2014 when it began. The Scenario Model, addressing both destination strength, as well as community support and engagement, has been recognized by tourism thought leaders as one of the most significant developments in destination management to inform overall strategy.

DestinationNEXT was developed by MMGY NextFactor CEO Paul Ouimet in partnership with Destinations International to provide a data-driven methodology for helping destination organizations increase overall value in their communities.

The assessments have played a critical role in helping destination organizations develop strategic plans and destination master plans.

The 200th assessment was completed at a workshop in Honolulu where Paul was working with the Hawaii Tourism Authority on a series of workshops on each of the islands.

Paul Ouimet said, “How fitting it is for us to be in Honolulu for our 200th project, seeing as how it’s such an iconic, world-class destination.”
